Robert A. Wise, MD, is Professor with Joint Appointment in Environmental Health Sciences at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore, Maryland. He is Director of the Pulmonary Function Laboratory at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Baltimore.
Dr. Wise received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire and his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Wise completed his internship and residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center, Ann Arbor. He completed fellowships in the Respiratory Division and Environmental Physiology Division at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene & Public Health respectively.
Dr. Wise has served on numerous NIH federal advisory committees related to COPD. He is a member of several professional societies, including the American Thoracic Society and American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Wise has co-authored numerous articles for scientific and medical journals including American Journal of Respiratory Critical Care Medicine, Chest, New England Journal of Medicine, Circulation, and Respiratory Medicine. He has also authored and co-authored many book chapters.
